Who

Marinella Kilikitas is the founding partner of the firm.

She obtained her Bachelor of Laws LL.B (Hons) at the University of Southampton in the UK followed by her Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in London). Marinella moved to Cyprus in 2004 and trained at the niche shipping firm, Montanios & Montanios LLC, in Nicosia, Cyprus.

In early 2006, Marinella joined the corporate and commercial department of one of the largest law firms in Limassol, Cyprus, Andreas Neocleous & Co LLC, where she had the opportunity to extensively advise on a number of high-profile blue-chip transactions for a vast range of multinationals and magic-circle law firms.

She has advised (buyer’s side) on the regulatory and corporate legal aspects of a leveraged buyout transaction in relation to an integrated hotel resort facility by way of a public takeover and the subsequent de-listing of the target from the Cyprus Stock Exchange. She has also advised in relation to the standard listing of GDR’s by a Cypriot company on the Main Market of the LSE as well as a listing and admission for trading of a Cypriot company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

In 2014 Marinella joined E & G Economides LLC in Limassol and as Head of the Corporate and Commercial department advised on a number of complex transactions including the restructuring of existing non-performing debt facilities for one of the largest quarries in Cyprus (borrowers’ side) and on the Cypriot corporate law aspects on behalf of a leading global alternative investment management firm, Oaktree Capital Management in relation to its acquisition of a 49% stake in a ship management company headquartered in Cyprus.

In early 2020 Marinella joined a prestigious Legal 500 rated firm, Playbell & Co LLC as Partner, where despite the adversities brought about by the pandemic, was fortunate enough to be involved in certain small to mid-sized deals in niche industry areas which gave her the opportunity to further expand her existing network and naturally progress to set up her own practice.

Marinella specialises in cross-border mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate restructurings, corporate governance, banking and finance (legal opinions and due diligence), financial services regulatory matters and equity capital markets work where her experience has included advising both issuers and underwriters on IPOs as well as private placements.

Marinella has contributed to a number of prestigious publications including the Cyprus Chapters of ICLG’s Mergers and Acquisitions 2017, 2018 and 2019 and Lending and Secured Finance 2017, 2018 and 2019, respectively. More recently Marinella has contributed to the Cyprus chapter of Global Legal Insights – Banking Regulation 2022.

Marinella is recognized by the Legal 500 (EMEA CYPRUS, Corporate & Commercial 2018, 2019 and 2020) for her work and is described as “accurate” with “excellent commercial and corporate knowledge and approach to legal matters. [She] thinks even of the slightest details legally and commercially and provides a feeling of trust and security that one is in the best of hands in commercial/ corporate transactions.
